1. Overview

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Author Platform website, applications, and services (collectively, the "Service") operated by AuthorHub ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.

Author Platform is a web-based service for writers and readers that provides tools for story creation, world-building, chapter management, publishing, and community interaction.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. Users under 18 must have parental or guardian consent.
• By creating an account, you represent that the information you provide is accurate and complete.
• We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason at any time.

3. Accounts

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Services & Features

The Service provides the following features (subject to your account tier):

• Story Studio: Tools for creating, organizing, and writing stories, including world-building, character management, timeline creation, and chapter editing.
• AI Assistance: AI-powered writing tools, generation of character descriptions, world histories, and other creative content.
• Publishing: Ability to publish stories to the public catalog for other users to read.
• Community: Social features including profiles, feeds, comments, and idea/bug submission.
• Marketplace: A marketplace for sharing and purchasing user-created templates and modules.
• Reader: A reading interface for consuming published stories with comments and bookmarks.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without prior notice.

5. Virtual Tokens

• Author Platform uses a virtual currency system ("Tokens") that can be purchased with real money.
• Tokens can be used to unlock premium content (e.g., paywalled chapters), purchase marketplace items, and access premium AI features.
• Tokens have no real-world monetary value and cannot be exchanged for cash or transferred to other users.
• All token purchases are final. Refunds for unused tokens may be requested within 14 days of purchase (see our Refund Policy).
• We reserve the right to modify token pricing and the features tokens can unlock.

6. Subscriptions

• Premium subscriptions (e.g., "Pro") grant access to advanced features, increased AI limits, and enhanced tools.
• Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or yearly) depending on the plan selected.
• You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing period.
• We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with at least 30 days' notice.

7. User Content

• You retain ownership of all content you create and publish on the platform ("User Content").
• By publishing content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and promote your content within the Service.
• You are solely responsible for the content you publish and must ensure it complies with our Community Rules.
• We do not endorse or guarantee the accuracy of any User Content.

8. Intellectual Property

• The Service, including its design, code, logos, and documentation, is the intellectual property of AuthorHub and is protected by copyright and trademark laws.
• You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works of the Service without explicit written permission.
• If you believe content on the platform infringes your copyright, please contact us at support@authorhubapp.com.

9. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Upload content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or the Service's systems
• Use automated bots, scrapers, or other programmatic means to access the Service without permission
• Circumvent any security measures or access restrictions
• Impersonate any person or entity

10. Termination

• You may delete your account at any time through your profile settings.
• We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at our sole discretion, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or us.
• Upon termination, your right to use the Service immediately ceases. Any unused tokens or remaining subscription time will not be refunded unless required by applicable law.

11. Disclaimers

• The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.
• We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
• AI-generated content is provided for creative assistance only and may contain inaccuracies.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, AuthorHub shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the Service.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated Terms on this page and update the "Effective Date" at the top. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
